Publicis Media Secures Global Media Account for Spotify
In a significant development, Spotify, the world-renowned music streaming platform, has awarded its global media account to Publicis Media, as reported by media outlets. The Publicis Groupe has established a specialized unit named Publicis OneVibe dedicated to servicing the Spotify business. This prestigious global account is estimated to be valued at $240 million. The account was previously managed by IPG Mediabrands’ UM, which had been handling Spotify’s media operations for seven years.
The decision to entrust Publicis Media with this crucial responsibility underscores Spotify’s commitment to adapt and evolve in a dynamic landscape. Marc Hazan, Vice President of Marketing and Partnerships at Spotify, emphasized the importance of embracing change and connecting with the platform’s vast and diverse global audience, which exceeds 602 million users across more than 180 markets. Hazan expressed anticipation for a new era of brand media and performance marketing excellence under the banner of Publicis OneVibe.
Although India was initially excluded from the global pitch, subsequent to the global review, Publicis Media has been appointed to manage Spotify’s media account in the country as well. Reports suggest that Spotify’s media spends in India amount to nearly Rs 100 crore. Notably, the creative responsibilities for Spotify in India are currently handled by Leo Burnett, a part of the Publicis Groupe.
As Spotify celebrates its fifth anniversary in India, this strategic partnership with Publicis Media marks a significant milestone in the platform’s journey. With its innovative approach and global expertise, Publicis Media is poised to contribute to Spotify’s continued growth and success in India and beyond.
