In conversation with TheMauve, Akshay Poptani, Actor, shares the journey of being an actor, problems faced in this field and his vision.
1. How was your journey as actor?
The journey is always beautiful, It just depends on how high your expectations are from the destination. I don’t keep too many expectations from my life. Whatever things I encounter on the journey surprise me, either by bringing good news or by giving me a task. That’s why my journey till now has been very memorable. I’ve given around 150-200 auditions, out of which only 8-10 have resulted in work. But all the work I’ve gotten has been better than the last.
This journey will never end. It’s an ocean, and there are countless pearls inside it. We have to search for them, and we have to keep searching until we find them. There’s no second option. So, the journey till now has been very beautiful, and it will continue to be beautiful. The search for pearls is still ongoing.
2. What kind of problems have you faced in your journey?
What are problems? I consider something a problem when I can’t get what I want or there’s an obstacle in achieving it. But I treat it as a task; I don’t give much importance to the word “problem.” For us, the biggest task (problem) is to handle rejection and maintain self-confidence.
3. What is your vision being an actor?
My main aim is to keep this journey enjoyable. When the journey is good, the destination naturally becomes attractive. Being honest in everything I do, whether it’s big or small, is really important to me. I like to focus more on taking action than just thinking about my goals. If I get too caught up in thinking about my goals, I might not do as well in actually getting things done, you know? Spending too much time just thinking about our goals often leads to feeling disappointed. So, I believe it’s better to have fewer expectations and work hard instead.
I think it’s not just about having a clear vision or goal; it’s more about the actions we take and being honest throughout the journey that truly matters.
