Archies, set in 1964, a teenage classic, captures British roots well in the anglo-Indian town of Riverdale. The meticulous attention to detail, from sets to costumes and songs, creates a perfect period piece, though it ironically seems ahead of its time. While portraying the society of the ’60s falls short, the film compensates with entertainment. The plot, though lacking originality with best friends vying for a guy and the town uniting against a common threat, echoes Bollywood’s charm—more about entertainment than accuracy. In this, Archies stands tall, resembling a sophisticated take on Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’.
