ACC Sets $170 Million Base Price for Asia Cup Media Rights Auction
According to multiple media sources, the bidding for the Asia Cup media rights will be held on November 1. The report said that the Asian Cricket Council announced a base price of $170 million for media rights of the Asia Cup, which will include matches of both the men’s and women’s sides.
The rights package also includes the Men’s Asia Cup, Women’s Asia Cup and a couple of under-19 and emerging team competitions. Media rights for this particular set of competitions will be sold for an eight-year period from 2024 to 2031. For the broadcasters, the Men’s Asia Cup is of huge value as there will be a minimum of two big-ticket games featuring India and Pakistan in every edition.
The Asia Cup has scheduled the next edition to be played in India in 2025, while the T20 version will take place after that. The following editions will be hosted by Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka respectively, also in alternate years, but with T20 and ODI formats.
These matches, as reported, will have their media rights auctioned in the form of an e-auction, technical bids to be received by October 30 in Dubai. Also, the Asian Cricket Council has confirmed that three Women’s Asia Cup tournaments will take place during this given time period.
