“Development of India’s fourth Science City planned for Nava Raipur in Chhattisgarh”

The Chhattisgarh government is gearing up to build its very first Science City in Nava Raipur, which is expected to be announced in this year’s budget. This exciting project aims to encourage curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning among young people.

The estimated cost for setting up the Science City is around ₹232.70 crores. To fund this, the Government of India will provide ₹118.14 crores, while the state government will contribute ₹114.56 crores. This investment shows a commitment to advancing scientific education and exploration.

Science Cities are currently found in only three cities across India: Kolkata, which was developed by the central government, and Gujarat and Jalandhar, developed by their respective state governments. Now, Chhattisgarh is joining this league, marking a significant step forward in science education and engagement.

The proposed Science City will cover 35 acres of land and is expected to be completed within 60 months. It will offer a range of attractions designed to make science fun and accessible to all. These attractions include a Food Court, Science and Technology Heritage Park, Geological Park, Open Air Exhibits on various topics, a Musical Fountain, Solar Energy Powered Educational Science Park, Bio-dome, Butterfly Garden, and Dino Park rides.

SS Bajaj, the director general of Chhattisgarh Regional Science Centre, believes that the Science City will create an immersive learning environment where young minds can explore, experiment, and learn in exciting new ways. This hands-on approach is crucial for nurturing a scientific mindset and fostering innovation.
