Aakar: A Story Shaped by Hands, Heart, and a Lot of Cement
Aakar didn’t start with big plans or fancy branding. It honestly began on our floor, with a bag of concrete, a few homemade moulds, and two people who simply loved earthy, minimal things. We’ve always been drawn to pieces that feel grounded — the kind that don’t try too hard yet somehow pull a whole room together. That’s how the idea of making our own pots first came into the picture.
We had noticed the same problem everywhere: planters were either cheap and fragile or so expensive that people hesitated to buy even one. There was nothing simple, handmade, and reasonably priced. So we thought, “Let’s try creating what we ourselves wish existed.”
The early days were messy. Concrete cracks if you even look at it the wrong way. Some pots came out too heavy, some too thin, some refused to come out of the mould at all. We ruined so many batches that we genuinely questioned our sanity a few times. But slowly, with a lot of trial and a little bit of stubbornness, things started to look like what we had imagined.
Today, when people describe Aakar as “earthy,” “raw,” or “so calming,” it makes every failed attempt worth it. Our audience — plant lovers, home décor people, interior stylists — they’re the reason we kept going. Their messages, photos, and repeat orders helped us grow more than anything else.
Being a female founder shaped the brand in a quiet but strong way. I’m naturally drawn to details — textures, edges, proportions, even how a pot feels when you hold it. That softness shows through our designs.
We’ve come a long way from those first clumsy pots. More shapes, more colours, more ideas. And ahead of us? Home accessories, décor pieces, and collaborations with spaces that share our love for handmade. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:
You don’t need to start big — you just need to start. And let your craft grow at its own pace.
