Deepfake Videos of Anant Ambani, Nita Ambani Promote Doubtful App
Stunned, deep fake videos of noted Indian personalities like Anant Ambani and Nita Ambani flooded social media websites and promoted some doubtful online gaming app called Aviator.
Anant Ambani got recently married in a star-studded, sprawling ceremony in Mumbai. He has now found himself in the middle of controversy.
Now, a deepfake video of Ambani goes viral on Facebook, promoting an online game app, Aviator. In the manipulated video, he is seen guaranteeing five times return on winning and double on losses as a special offer for this wedding celebration.
Similarly, even Nita Ambani, found and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, has not been spared either. A deepfake video created from an original YouTube interview with CNBC-TV18 is used to make false claims of her endorsing the Aviator app.
Other deepfake advertisements involving other prominent persons can be found on the Aviator Facebook page, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani.
This comes just days after cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was seen flogging some other spurious gaming app called Skyward Aviator Quest through a deepfake video.
Another gaming platform, Valor Casino, has hopped onto this deepfake technology bandwagon as it has created deepfakes of cricket icon Virat Kohli and social media entrepreneur-podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as Beer Biceps. Videos of Kohli and Allahbadia faked to promote casino games appear on Instagram. This puts them on the list of victims of this delinquent marketing strategy.
