Elon Musk’s Grok 3 goes live today: Launch time, LIVE-stream details, and what to expect

Elon Musk-led xAI is ready to unveil its newest foundation model, Grok 3 that will fuel the chatbot of the same name and challenge the likes of ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, and Claude. The new LLM from xAI should still have unrestricted access to the real-time information on X and its reasoning capabilities are poised to receive a major boost, which means Grok may improve at solving more complex issues.

Grok 3 is not expected to be a reasoning model like OpenAI’s o3 Mini or DeepSeek R1. Interestingly, reasoning models have now become popular in light of DeepSeek, such models are intended to simulate human-like reasoning for addressing complex problem-solving, coding, scientific reasoning, and multi-step planning.

When and where to watch Grok 3 launch?
Grok 3 will go live at 8:30 PM Pacific Time on Monday, or 10:00 AM India time. Similar to other Elon Musk company products, Grok 3 should be unveiled through a live demo on the xAI handle.

What to expect from Grok 3?
Tuning in from Dubai last week as a guest of the World Government Summit via video link, Musk called the abilities of the AI “scary smart” and said the training data on Grok 3 was synthetic. He described how the model exists to learn about its own flaws, returning perpetually over the data for purposes of logic coherence.

“Grok 3 has extremely strong reasoning abilities. In the test that we have conducted so far, Grok 3 is performing better than anything that’s been released that we know of. That’s reassuring. Actually, sometimes I think Grok 3 is kind of frighteningly intelligent. You’re like wow, this thing is intelligent, this thing is coming up with answers that you did not even conceive, you would not even expect.” Musk mentioned while discussing the ability of Grok 3.

“Grok 3 was taught with the largest quantity of computing and I believe highly efficient taught. Grok 3 is taught lots of synthetic data and then it keeps going back and forth through the data and attempts to obtain logical consistency. If it has data that is incorrect, it will actually reconsider that and eliminate the data that is incorrect, that does not agree with reality. Its fundamental reasoning is very good.” the billionaire added.

Rivalry with OpenAI:
In the meantime, Musk also made a $97.4 billion offer for OpenAI’s non-profit wing earlier this week. Although OpenAI’s board formally rejected the bid, the rivalry between ChatGPT creator and xAI has only grown.

Musk also denounced OpenAI, the organization he co-founded in 2015, for its deviation from its initial purpose of open-source, non-profit AI research. He mocked its conversion into a profit-making organization by saying, “OpenAI is supposed to be open source, non-profit, and now they changed the name to close for maximum profit AI. They’re after money next level.”
