James Cameron Joins StabilityAI to Explore AI in Filmmaking
James Cameron, best known as a Hollywood film director for The Terminator, is now on the board of StabilityAI, forty years after the release of the sci-fi movie. Here, he would be interested in the potential of this technology to flourish special effects in filmmaking.
“I’ve spent my whole career searching for new technologies that could stretch all the way from mere possibility to what really does seem possible, in order to be able to tell incredible stories,” Cameron said.
StabilityAI is the company behind Stable Diffusion, a tool that generates images using text prompts provided by the users. Recently, the company released its Stable Video Diffusion to work on similar lines.
Advocates of AI video generation believe it will allow artists to rapidly generate complex digital effects. Cameron has publicly stated using AI as part of a ploy to aid special effects in the 2022 sequel Avatar: The Way of Water, which ranks at present as the third-highest-grossing film of all time.
Actually, OpenAI’s competitor has the most noted name in the realm of video generation.
