So, JioTV+, the default app on the JioFiber set-top box, can access more than 860 Live TV channels and contents from video premium platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ Hotstar, said Reliance Jio Infocomm chairman Akash Ambani.
That makes JioTV+ the most comprehensive aggregator of live television channels in India because, as of March 2024, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has granted permission for uplinking and downlinking to only 922 channels.

Kiran Thomas, Chief Executive Officer, Jio Platforms, said, “Clearly a leader, JioTV+ integrates deeply the content of more than a dozen OTT apps, hundreds of live TV channels, and thousands of on-demand movies and shows on a single sign-on.”.
Ambani also introduced a homegrown operating system, Jio TVOS for the Jio STB. This is to make viewing a better experience with Ultra HD 4K video, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos so that each TV becomes a cinematic hub. The Jio TVOS perfectly combines your favorite apps, live TV, and shows into one easy interface.
Lastly, Ambani gave a sneak peek at Hello Jio, the evolution of the voice assistant, which shall seamlessly integrate with TVOS.
Thomas further said, “Hello Jio can launch apps-in the case of command ‘Open Netflix’-but they can also search for certain movies or shows or music by name.” Ambani said what really differentiates TVOS is the Jio App Store. According to him, Jio App Store is an ecosystem of third-party apps which are built and published by developers who could do various things peculiar to Jio Home.
To illustrate the range of applications, Ambani showed everything from AI-powered virtual yoga coaching to augmented reality shopping from the comfort of one’s living room.
