Legendary Filmmaker Mira Nair speaks of the praise heaped on Girls Will Be Girls, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s maiden effort as producers, which has drawn considerable attention with its release in the US. Nair had words of praise for storytelling and performances in the film and requested her US audience to feel the cinematic brilliance for themselves.

She also motivated her fans to go watch Girls Will Be Girls, even as the screenings were sold out and word was spreading. “Girls Will Be Girls is a rare gem. It’s very natural. It’s got such nuanced storytelling. It’s one of those films worth seeing, I must say. I really do hope everybody in the US catches it,” said Nair.
Joining in the accolades, ace filmmaker Zoya Akhtar too shared her appreciation for the film. She said, “Gentle, lyrical. A visual coming-of-age poem. Do not miss this.” Such huge appreciation by both Nair and Akhtar makes it very significant for Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s first production.
Mira Nair also emphasized the excellent screening of the film during the reputable Sundance Film Festival. She accordingly cited Preeti and Kantari Kanmani for powerful performances in the very complex relationship of a mother and daughter as full authenticity.
