Shruti Bisht: From Child Star to Lead in “Mishri”
With “Ek Nayi Chhoti Si Zindagi,” television actress Shruti Bisht made her acting debut at the young age of eight. Since then, she has made appearances in numerous well-known programs, including “Hitler Didi,” “Baal Veer,” and “Saath Nibhana Saathiya,” among many others. She will be seen as the lead in Color’s upcoming television series, “Mishri.” Shruti Bisht talks about her part, the upcoming program, her career, and more in an exclusive tete-a-tete with Adgully.
What makes “Mishri” unique enough for you to accept it?
It’s because of my persona and the fact that Mathura, one of my favorite locations, is the setting for the narrative. Since I had a strong emotional connection to Mathura from my childhood vacation, I chose to do “Mishri.” Another factor was that it was like working with family because I had previously collaborated with the same team on a different project.
How did you get ready for this position? Was it challenging?
My character had a typical touch of the local Mathura language, therefore I had to focus on my linguistic skills. To get that dialect just perfect, I had to practice a lot. I continue to work on it. Aside from that, it was challenging for me to learn how to ride a bike in a single day and we had to film in real places in Mathura. I am, however, performing better thanks to my directing team.
On television, a show will typically begin differently before going down the same old path of the female lead getting married and dealing with the same familial dynamics. Will “Mishri” adhere to this pattern?
That won’t happen, in my opinion, with our show. Everyone assumes from the ads that this boy and girl will fall in love at some point, and that two of the girls will then battle it out for the boy’s attention. However, I can guarantee you that it won’t occur. You will realize that “Mishri” is a totally different story after viewing the show. I can tell you right now that the plot is really engaging.
Has your experience as a young performer aided in your career?
Indeed, experience is a great asset. However, I continue to pick up a lot of knowledge from the sets. I really think that there is no limit to the things you can learn. My acting career is undoubtedly being aided by my experience as a kid actor in the industry. When you work on the sets, I believe that every day is a fresh experience, and I want to know more.
What kind of television programming do you personally watch?
Since romantic comedies have such happy endings and are so unlike real life love stories, I truly like watching them. But I also enjoy nasty characters; in fact, I prefer them over the primary protagonists. I absolutely appreciate seeing negative roles since they are pretty engaging and have a lot of mirch masala. One can do a lot of things as an actor.
