Reliance Retail Tests Hyperlocal Delivery for Groceries in Mumbai
According to a report by Economic Times, Reliance Retail has initiated a trial program for the prompt delivery of groceries and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) products in specific districts of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
The JioMart application now includes the speedy delivery service, which is referred to as a “hyperlocal delivery option.” As more stores are connected to the system, Reliance plans to attempt and cut the delivery time down to between thirty and forty-five minutes.
Reliance does not want to get into the fast delivery market, even though other companies are delivering items in ten to fifteen minutes. As to the report, the company is prioritizing collaboration with nearby kirana retailers to expedite delivery. The business plans to include kirana stores that have joined the JioMart Partner initiative in places where its store network is restricted. These kiranas have a backend connected to them and source merchandise from Reliance Retail’s wholesale division.
The business uses technological platforms like FYND and Locus to streamline delivery routes and handle fulfilment. There are plans to launch a hyperlocal clothing and electronics business at a later time.
Although it was halted, Reliance had already started a rapid delivery test in Navi Mumbai last year.
