This is H&M’s new collaboration with Anamika Khanna, offering her very unique style of glamour and craft merged with modern tailoring and loungewear. Anamika Khanna re-imagines the traditional silhouette for an international audience. The collection encompasses womenswear, menswear, jewelry, and accessories and is due to land in selected stores and online on hm website and Myntra on 5 September 2024.
“I always feel that the soul of Indian fashion gets lost when it’s interpreted by the rest of the world. So often, our fashion, in terms of culture, heritage of craft, and textile embroideries, is catered to as costume or not wearable or modern enough. Things have changed so much, and this collection with H&M allows me the opportunity to take something Indian and make it global and modern,” said Anamika Khanna.
This is a glamorous collection of fluid, flattering shapes, living with bright color, pattern, and hand-embroidered embellishment. For womenswear, a sense of effortlessness underpins this elegance in easy draping skirts and airy kaftans with asymmetrical or high-low hemlines, silk pyjama ensembles. Traditional cuts for men get refreshed with graphic prints while painterly motifs elevate the cool, carefree sportswear shapes.
“Anamika designs clothes to make the wearer express themselves. The silhouettes are fluid, draped, and often in a way that can be personalised. The prints are also intriguing. She integrates many fully printed looks, merging traditional color elements with something more graphic,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor at H&M.
The collection is dotted with Anamika Khanna’s trademark jewelry pieces such as earrings, cuffs, and necklaces. Each piece is made of reclaimed metal and then crafted locally in India. Now, let’s address the price factor: ready-to-wear apparel is reasonably priced, starting at Rs. 2,999, while accessories are starting from Rs. 1,499 onwards.
