Prasar Bharati appoints Ex IAS Officer Navneet Kumar Sehgal as Chairman
Prasar Bharati, India’s public broadcasting agency, has appointed Navneet Kumar Sehgal, a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh Cadre, as the Chairman of its Board. Mr. Sehgal’s tenure will span three years or until he reaches the age of 70, in accordance with the official decree.
According to an order issued on March 15, 2024, by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President’s approval was granted on the recommendation of the Selection Committee, appointing Shri Navneet Kumar Sehgal, IAS (retd), as the Chairman of the Prasar Bharati Board. His appointment is effective from the date he assumes office, and he will serve for a term of three years or until he turns seventy, whichever comes earlier.
During his illustrious career, Mr. Sehgal has held significant positions in various governments, including those of Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, and Yogi Adityanath. Notably, he earned recognition for his pivotal role as a troubleshooter and confidante of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while serving in his government.
Before assuming his new role at Prasar Bharati, Mr. Sehgal served as Additional Chief Secretary in the Information Department and later in the Sports Department.
