Zomato embraces Desi hip hop with ‘Zomato Wala Rapper’
One of Zomato’s delivery riders is gaining attention for his rap skills under the alias ‘Zomato Wala Rapper’. He runs his own YouTube channel featuring rap songs dating back to 2018. Zomato has taken notice of his talent and recently collaborated with him on a dedicated rap song titled “Zomato Rider Top Pe”. In the song, Vishal (@zomatowalarapper) raps about the experience of being a Zomato rider over an energetic beat. The video begins with Vishal responding to another rapper’s dismissive comments, which motivates him to showcase his own lyrical prowess with his crew, all dressed in Zomato attire. The lyrics of the song appear to reflect Zomato’s values, emphasizing aspects like safe driving, customer satisfaction, and perseverance on challenging roads.
Zomato announced the collaboration with Vishal through their social media platforms, expressing pride in showcasing his musical talent. The posts have garnered significant attention, highlighting Vishal’s journey and encouraging support for his latest song. Vishal’s aspirations in the Desi Hip Hop (DHH) scene are evident from his YouTube channel, and Zomato seems supportive of his ambitions.
Zomato has previously engaged with the DHH community through similar initiatives. In a past instance, they produced another rap song in 2020 focused on food, Zomato’s services, and the convenience of ordering. Recently, they partnered with comedian and influencer Samay Raina, who spent a day as a Zomato delivery rider. During his stint, Raina connected with Soni Ramachandra, known as MC Lit, a Zomato rider who is passionate about DHH and pursues it alongside her delivery job. Their collaboration, seemingly orchestrated by Zomato, resulted in a popular YouTube video on Raina’s channel, garnering over 1.7 million views and positive feedback praising Ramachandra’s talent.
