JioCinema to Livestream Paris 2024 Paralympics, India’s Largest Contingent

Still on a high after announcing a record broadcast package for Paris 2024, Viacom18 on Wednesday said JioCinema would live stream the Paralympic Games Paris 2024. The Paralympics would run in the French capital from August 28th till September 8th. While JioCinema would be streaming the event live, the Sports18 TV Network would run daily highlights from the 12-day event. JioCinema will offer its users all-inclusive insight into the mega event in Paris 2024 by streaming the most gripping action of two concurrent feeds within the Paralympic Games.

This is after a recent Olympic Presentation in India that saw watch time at more than 1,500 crore minutes and upwards of 17 crore viewers across all platforms for the most comprehensive Olympic presentation ever.

The Indian contingent, comprising 84 para-athletes in Paris, would be its largest so far for the Paralympic Games. Of these, four Indian para-athletes would go to Paris as defending champions: Sumit Antil, Krishna Nagar, Manish Narwal, and Avani Lekhara. Once-in-a-lifetime participation would be the case with disciplines-disciplines totaling 12 in number.

The contingent will also be graced by current world number one women’s singles SH6 player Nithya Sre Sumathy Sivan as events in that classification make their Paralympic debut over there for the first time. So far, Tokyo 2020 has been the most successful Paralympics with an all-time record haul of 19 medals comprising five gold, eight silver, and six bronze. It included the feat of Lekhara’s becoming the first Indian woman to win a Paralympic gold medal.

This event will go live tonight at 11:30 PM IST tonight. Live action for the Paralympic Games Paris 2024 will start from tomorrow, i.e., from noon onwards on 29th August.
