X, formerly Twitter has challenged the order of Delhi Court for blocking ‘Hindutva Watch’. The US-based project ‘Hindutva Watch’ claims to be documenting hate crimes against religious minorities in India. In this context, referring to the directive by the Government of India for blocking the account, X claimed that the case has inadequate justification for blocking ‘Hindutva Watch ‘ under Section 69A of the IT Act.

This comes in a time when cases of strict restrictions are imposed on social media platforms in the areas of posted content as well as rights to free speech.
