Singham Again Trailer: Ramayan Twist Adds New Dimension to Cop Universe

Today, the trailer of the latest movie from Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, ‘Singham Again’, launched. And it has everything that one has come to expect from the Singham films – mindboggling stunts, cars flying, guns blazing, thrilling action – BUT, with one curious addition this time. References to Ramayan in the movie trailer have left fans stumped.

Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan reprisal from previous Singham films. The multi-star cast also features Deepika Padukone, Tiger Shroff, Jackie Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, Ravi Kishan, among many more.

From what can be gathered from the near-five-minute promo of Bajirao Singham, one can derive that Bajirao Singham’s wife, played by Kareena, is kidnapped by the chief antagonist, Arjun Kapoor looking like a modern-day Ravan, and taken to Sri Lanka. This brings Singham and his police colleagues together with Tiger and Deepika, who are also cops, to engage the villains in the ultimate face-off.

Interestingly, Rohit Shetty has decided to mix this story with the sacred epic Ramayan by equating Ajay as Lord Ram and Kareena as Sita, Tiger as Lakshman, Raveer as Hanuman, Akshay as Jatayu, Deepika as Vibhishan and Arjun as Ravan.

Speaking about the concept of ‘Singham Again’, Ajay revealed, “Rohit narrated the script and the concept, where Ramayan and its characters are woven in. That was a novelty and very fascinating. If you look at the kind of scale that it was shot-it took more than a year to shoot the film. You will see all the hard work in the film. Rest is up to you all now.”.

Kareena, who has been seen in the earlier film also, quipped, “Ramayan is incomplete without Sita, similarly Rohit Shetty’s film is incomplete without Kareena!” Thanking Rohit and Ajay for always supporting her and giving such a special role in this male-centric cop verse, Kareena said, “I’m very honored and overwhelmed to represent Sita maa in this film. Rohit and Ajay have always been my favorites.”. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with everyone – Tiger, Ravi sir, my dear friend Arjun, and of course, Akki (Akshay Kumar), whom I love so much.

Deepika, who became a proud mother of a baby daughter on September 8, could not be part of the trailer launch. Her husband and actor Ranveer Singh shared, “Deepika is taking care of the baby, so she could not be here today. But this is my baby girl’s debut too, because Deepika was pregnant with baby Simbaa when she shot for this film. So, Lady Singham and Baby Simbaa are part of this film!” Produced by Jio Studio, in association with Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn, ‘Singham Again’ is all set to hit the theaters on the occasion of Diwali, November 1, and will face a tough competition from another block buster franchise ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, in which Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, among others, will be present.
