Known for creating some of Indian television’s most loved comedy shows, including FIR and Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, Edit II is set to bring a refreshing romantic comedy, ‘Rafoo’, starring Maniesh Paul and Angira Dhar, soon to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. Announced as part of the platform’s recent slate announcement event, the series marks an exciting addition to its upcoming lineup. Produced by Sanjay Kohli, Binaiferr Kohli, and Vihaan Kohli, and directed by Shashank Bali, Rafoo blends humor, chaos, and contemporary relationship dynamics into an engaging narrative.
Penned by Raghuvir Shekhawat, Shashank Bali, Sanjay Kohli, Zeenat Lakhani, and Vihaan Kohli, Rafoo weaves together humor, nostalgia, tension, and unresolved emotions into a deeply relatable narrative. The series follows the story of a struggling singer, played by Maniesh Paul, whose already complicated life takes an unexpected turn when he ends up living with his ex-mother-in-law, while his successful ex-wife, portrayed by Angira Dhar, resides just upstairs with her new partner. As their lives continue to overlap, the line between past and present begins to blur, complicating what they thought was over.
Speaking about the upcoming series Rafoo, Nikhil Madhok, Head of Indian Originals, Amazon Prime Video, praised the producers for bringing the story to the platform. He said, “The pitch for this show was presented by Vihaan, and we were absolutely sold from the very first narration. Congratulations, Vihaan.” Adding to the excitement, filmmaker Karan Johar shared his enthusiasm for the series and gave a special mention to Agira Dhar, saying, “This is amazing. One member of your cast is special to me for various reasons, but mainly because we are twin birthday soulmates, we are born on the same day. So I’m rooting a little extra heart for this one.”
