Veteran producer Rajan Shahi took to Instagram to remember his maternal grandfather and legendary actor P. Jairaj on his birthday. The producer shared a few pictures of the late actor and penned an emotional note about his remarkable journey, his legacy and the blessings he continues to seek.
Sharing the picture, Rajan wrote, “Happy birthday to my maternal grandfather, P. Jairaj Ji. Inspirational. A karm yogi who made his debut as an actor in silent films in 1929, winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award from the President of India in 1981 and the Lifetime Filmfare Award in 1952, and so many more accolades. You continue to inspire us. 97th year due to your blessings. Four generations working in this industry, be it films, TV, OTT or digital. Always seek your blessings.”
P. Jairaj was one of the prominent actors of his generation and began his acting journey with silent films in 1929. Over the years, he became a familiar face in Indian cinema and was recognised for his contribution to the industry. He received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1952 and was later honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1981.
For Rajan, his grandfather’s contribution is also a part of his family’s own story. In his post, he pointed out that four generations of the family have been associated with the entertainment industry, spanning films, television, OTT and digital.
Rajan himself has carried that legacy forward through television. He is known for shows such as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Anupamaa, both of which continue to be on air.
While Rajan has created his own identity as a producer, his birthday post for P. Jairaj shows the personal side of that legacy. For him, his grandfather remains not just a celebrated name from the past, but someone whose blessings and journey continue to inspire the generations that followed.
