At 17, the young achiever is balancing JEE preparation with pageant ambitions, with her sights set on Femina Miss India and a journey defined by purpose, personal growth and women’s empowerment.
A crown can mark a moment of achievement. But for some, it represents something far more personal: the possibility of becoming the person they have always imagined themselves to be.
For 17-year-old Saanvi Srivastava, her recent pageant title is one such moment. Balancing academic aspirations with an emerging interest in the world of pageantry, she is beginning to chart a path that brings together ambition, identity and a desire to make her journey count for something beyond recognition.
Having grown up in Varanasi before moving to Mumbai, Saanvi carries the influence of two very different worlds. One shaped by her roots and family, the other by the possibilities of a city where ambition often finds its voice. Together, these experiences have informed the way she sees her future—and the person she hopes to become.
“I come from a very respected and loving family in Varanasi. My parents have always supported and encouraged me to pursue my dreams and believe in myself,” she says.
For Saanvi, that encouragement has provided a foundation from which to explore her ambitions while continuing to prioritise her education.
More Than a Moment in the Spotlight
At Mithibai College in Mumbai, Saanvi is pursuing her studies while preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Pageantry, meanwhile, offers a different kind of challenge: an opportunity to discover her confidence, explore her potential and imagine a future that extends beyond the classroom.
“I am currently studying at Mithibai College in Mumbai and preparing for the JEE. Alongside academics, I have always been passionate about exploring my potential and creating a meaningful journey for myself,” she says.
Her recent title has added a new dimension to that journey. The moment of recognition, she recalls, was accompanied by a mixture of excitement, gratitude and emotion.
“Honestly, the moment was completely overwhelming and incredibly special for me. I felt extremely grateful to be a part of such an amazing event, and to receive the crown from Devanshi Sharma made it even more memorable. It truly felt like a dream come true,” she says.
Yet, what stayed with her was not simply the experience of receiving a crown, but what it represented.
“For me, this is not just a title, it feels like the first step towards achieving my dreams, making my country and, most importantly, my parents proud. I was genuinely happy, emotional and grateful for the entire experience,” she adds.
It is an outlook that places the achievement within a larger narrative. The title is a beginning, not a conclusion.
The Dream Beyond the Crown
For Saanvi, the next milestone is already taking shape. She hopes to enter Femina Miss India, with the eventual ambition of representing her state and country on a larger platform.
“My biggest goal is to enter Femina Miss India and eventually have the opportunity to represent my state and my country on a larger platform,” she says.
The aspiration reflects her interest in pageantry as a space for personal development and representation. But she is also conscious that the measure of a journey cannot rest on accolades alone.
“I want to achieve a lot throughout my journey, but more importantly, I want my journey to have a purpose. I want to be heard, seen and remembered, not just for the titles I win, but for the person I become and the impact I create,” she says.
It is a distinction worth making. Recognition can open doors, but what one chooses to do with those opportunities is what gives them meaning. For a young woman at the beginning of her journey, that sense of purpose appears as important as the ambition itself.
Two Cities, One Evolving Perspective
Varanasi and Mumbai occupy different emotional and cultural spaces, and Saanvi’s experience of both has given her a distinctive perspective on change, opportunity and belonging.
Reflecting on the transition, she says, “I would simply like to say that my journey so far has taken me from the spiritual ghats of Varanasi to the City of Dreams, Mumbai. Living in these two very different cities has taught me that every place and every experience has something valuable to offer.”
The contrast between the two cities becomes, in her telling, a lesson in remaining open to what each new chapter can teach. Her roots continue to inform her sense of self, even as she embraces the possibilities of a different environment.
It is a perspective that extends beyond geography. As she navigates education, personal ambition and pageantry, she appears keen to approach each experience as an opportunity to learn rather than as a destination in itself.
A Voice for Women and Their Possibilities
Alongside her personal goals, Saanvi speaks about a broader belief in the importance of women’s empowerment. For her, ambition is not simply about individual achievement; it is also about the opportunities women receive to participate, contribute and shape the communities around them.
“One thing I strongly believe in is that whenever women are given greater opportunities and a stronger role in society, the entire community grows and thrives. I am a true believer and supporter of women empowerment, and I want to continue growing, learning and becoming a better version of myself,” she says.
The sentiment adds another layer to her aspirations. Beyond the stage and the title, she wants to develop a sense of identity that reflects her values and the impact she hopes to create.
At 17, there is still much to discover, and Saanvi is approaching that uncertainty with a combination of ambition and gratitude. Her immediate path includes academics and the pursuit of future pageant opportunities, but her larger vision is one of continued growth.
“I believe this is just the beginning of my journey,” she says.
And perhaps that is what makes this milestone meaningful. Not the promise of having arrived, but the confidence to imagine what comes next—and the determination to keep moving towards it.
