Greater Noida, May 2026: The Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences (NIIMS) College
& Hospital successfully organized the THALCARE SUMMIT 2026 CME, focusing on the critical
theme “Thalassemia: Challenges in Diagnosis & Management,” bringing together renowned
medical experts, academicians, clinicians, and healthcare professionals from different regions of
the country. The Continuing Medical Education (CME) program was jointly organized by the
Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Pathology at NIIMS, Greater Noida, to enhance
awareness, strengthen clinical understanding, and discuss the latest advancements in
thalassemia diagnosis and management. The Organising committee comprised of Dr (Col) Arun
Chaudhary,Professor & Head, Department of Pathology & Dr Amit Modi, Professor & Head,
Department of Paediatrics as organising chairpersons while Dr Vertika Gupta, Associate
professor, Department of Pathology, & Dr Avinash Jha, Assistant Professor, Department of
Paediatrics, as organising secretaries for the event.
The summit was organized under the leadership of Chief Patron Dr. Devesh Kumar Singh,
Chairman of Noida International University, Dr. Vikram Singh, Chancellor of Noida International
University, and Co-Patron Dr. S. N. Gupta, Director of NIIMS, Greater Noida. The summit
conveners included Dr. (Brig) Ranjit Ghuliani ( Medical Superintendent)and Dr. Manisha
Jindal(Dean).
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. (Col) Arun Chaudhary, Organising
Chairperson, Professor & HOD, Department of Pathology, NIIMS, who welcomed the
dignitaries, delegates, and participants while highlighting the importance of addressing
challenges in thalassemia diagnosis and management through collaborative learning and
medical advancements.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Amit Modi, Organising Chairperson, Professor and HOD,
Department of Paediatrics, expressed gratitude to the university leadership and administration
for supporting the initiative. He emphasized the growing importance of medical education,
innovation, and collaborative healthcare practices in improving patient outcomes.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Avinash Jha, Organising Secretary, Assistant Professor,
Department of Paediatrics, shared that THALCARE SUMMIT 2026 marked the first edition of
the summit and witnessed participation from more than 130 delegates. He highlighted the
institution’s achievements, certifications, and academic initiatives while outlining the event’s key
components, including five expert sessions and two panel discussions focused on various
aspects of thalassemia care. Adding an engaging dimension to the summit, activities such as
Quiz, , reel- making, rangoli-making and poster-making competitions were also organized to
spread awareness about thalassemia.
The Chief Guest of the event, Dr. R. K. Gupta, Professor & Director, Govt Institute of Medical
sciences (GIMS) lauded the initiative and remarked, “It is my privilege to share the dais with Dr.
Vikram Singh, and the chosen theme for the summit is highly relevant in today’s healthcare
landscape. I congratulate the faculty members, mentors, and students whose dedicated efforts,
including the special song presentation on World Thalassemia Day, beautifully reflected
awareness and sensitivity towards this important medical condition.”
Speaking on the occasion, Guest of Honour, Dr. Vikram Singh said, “At Noida International

Gangaram Hospital delhi and many more, making it a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange,
dialogue, and innovation in thalassemia care. With engaging expert sessions, meaningful
discussions, and enthusiastic delegate participation, THALCARE SUMMIT 2026 concluded as a
resounding success, reinforcing NIIMS’ commitment to advancing healthcare education and
patient-centered medical practices.
Also, NIIMS has newly acquired advanced technology aided HPLC machine for detection of
Thalassemia and other hemoglobinopathies which will help in screening, early detection and
better management of patients in the region.
