The contemporary streetwear label’s latest campaign transforms the familiar ritual of doing laundry into a playful metaphor for grief, heartbreak, insecurities and everything we carry from the past.
Mumbai, 8 September 2026: What if emotional baggage could simply be put through a wash cycle?
That is the playful premise behind WASHED PAST, the latest collection and campaign from contemporary streetwear label Chapter2Drip, founded by Rhea Chakraborty and Showik Chakraborty. Launched in September 2026 and shot at WTF Media Studio in Mumbai, the collection explores the idea of letting go through the familiar visual language of laundry—washed fabrics, faded colours, dyes, textures and, quite literally, a laundromat.
At its heart, WASHED PAST looks at the things people continue to carry long after they have outlived their purpose. Grief, abandonment, insecurities, heartbreak and the difficulty of moving on become the emotional vocabulary behind a collection that asks a simple question: what happens when we finally make space for what comes next?
When Dirty Laundry Becomes a Fashion Statement
The idea of “dirty laundry” takes on an entirely new meaning in Chapter2Drip’s latest campaign.
Instead of treating emotional baggage as something heavy or introspective, the brand approaches it with a sense of humour and visual play. The act of washing becomes a metaphor for release, while the collection itself mirrors that process through its use of washes, fades, dyes and deliberately lived-in textures.
The WASHED PAST collection includes ombré half shirts in blue, pink and grey; washed sets in charcoal, light blue and olive; gauze sets in brown, black, sage, dusty blue, Monday blue and coral; blue and white tie-dye; and washed denims.
Together, the pieces create a wardrobe that feels deliberately worn, altered and transformed—echoing the campaign’s larger idea of leaving something behind without losing the experience that came with it.
A Laundromat Built From Scratch
For Chapter2Drip, the campaign world was never intended to remain confined to photographs.
The brand recreated a full-scale laundromat from scratch, complete with custom WASHED PAST branding and signage. But rather than ordinary washing machines, the space featured machines labelled with emotions such as grief, abandonment and insecurities.
The result was an immersive physical interpretation of the campaign’s central metaphor: emotional baggage could be treated like laundry, placed into a machine and washed away.
The campaign also brings together a diverse cast, reinforcing the idea that carrying the past is a universal experience—one that isn’t restricted by age, identity or any particular stage of life. Through campaign imagery and film, Chapter2Drip keeps that shared experience firmly within its expressive, playful streetwear universe.
From Campaign Set to Fashion Experience
The laundromat didn’t disappear once the campaign was shot.
Following the shoot, Chapter2Drip transformed the set into an intimate launch experience for friends of the brand, creators, influencers and members of its wider community.
The evening brought together familiar names including Shalini Passi, Abhishek Malhan, Sahil Sethi, Shanya Khatwani, Mohit Khemani, Angad Bedi, Shreya Kalra and Kusha Kapila, among others.
The experience was designed to feel less like a conventional collection launch and more like an extension of the campaign itself. A DJ set took place inside the laundromat, alongside a stand-up performance, a dance performance and a mini fashion showcase featuring members of the Chapter2Drip team dressed in pieces from WASHED PAST.
Food and beverages rounded out the evening, while a dedicated retail display gave guests the opportunity to discover and shop the collection ahead of its wider release.
Fashion, Change and a New Chapter
“We all carry things from our past for longer than we need to. With WASHED PAST, we wanted to translate that feeling into something as familiar as doing your laundry. The washes, colours and textures all come back to the idea of letting go and making space for what’s next,” says Rhea Chakraborty, Co-Founder, Chapter2Drip.
For Showik Chakraborty, the ambition extended beyond creating a campaign set.
“WASHED PAST is one of the biggest campaign worlds we’ve built at Chapter2Drip. We wanted it to go beyond the shoot and become something people could actually step into, which is why transforming the laundromat into the launch experience felt like a natural extension of the campaign,” says Showik Chakraborty, Co-Founder, Chapter2Drip.
That physicality is perhaps what makes WASHED PAST particularly compelling. The concept isn’t simply communicated through clothes; it is built into the environment surrounding them.
From the washed textures of the collection to the machines bearing the names of emotional baggage, every detail reinforces the same idea.
Leave behind what no longer needs to be carried into the next chapter.
And perhaps that is the most fashionable thing about moving on.
