What begins as a moment of discovery can often define the trajectory of a career. For Elina Gunawardena, that moment came when she was identified and signed by Ford Models, a turning point that would take her from South Asia to some of the most prestigious runways in the world.

At just 15, Elina began her journey in Sri Lanka, initially navigating the challenges of modelling with little experience but a strong willingness to learn. Backed by early guidance and consistent self-training, she quickly evolved from walking local fashion weeks to building the confidence and presence required for international platforms.

In February 2025, Elina signed with Ford Models Paris and within days, she was flown to Paris Fashion Week. What followed was a breakthrough moment in her career, as she went on to walk for globally renowned fashion houses including Chanel, Hermès, Isabel Marant, and Rabanne.

Her journey reflects Ford Models’ long-standing legacy of identifying raw potential and transforming it into global success. With over 80 years of experience, the agency continues to play a defining role in shaping international modelling careers through its strong global network and development-driven approach.

From navigating competitive castings to overcoming physical challenges during fashion week, Elina’s experience highlights the resilience and discipline required to succeed at the highest level of the industry. Opening the Isabel Marant show and walking for Chanel marked key milestones moments that reinforced her arrival on the global stage.

As Ford Models brings its scouting initiative to India, Elina’s journey serves as a powerful example of what can unfold when the right opportunity meets the right talent.

The upcoming casting call in Mumbai on 16th May 2026 invites aspiring models aged 15 to 25 to step forward and be seen by one of the world’s most influential modelling agencies. Parental authorization will be required for all applicants under the age of 18.

Being discovered by Ford Models is more than a single opportunity, it is the beginning of a global journey.
