At its 29th Arabian Travel Market appearance, Sharjah Tourism introduces an immersive, technology-led pavilion designed to take visitors beyond conventional destination storytelling.
At a global travel marketplace where destinations compete not only for visitors but for attention, Sharjah is changing the way it tells its story.
The Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) has unveiled the new design of its ‘Visit Sharjah’ pavilion at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026 in Dubai, marking the emirate’s 29th participation in the leading travel industry event.
The new pavilion moves away from traditional destination displays, incorporating immersive digital technology, interactive storytelling and sensory experiences to offer visitors a more engaging introduction to Sharjah.
A Destination Told Through Experience
Designed around Sharjah’s three distinct regions — Sharjah City, the Central Region and the Eastern Region — the pavilion brings together the emirate’s diverse tourism proposition under one interactive experience.
At its centre is an immersive 360-degree digital experience, combining large-scale visual displays, surround sound and interactive lighting technology. Digital screens and dedicated storytelling spaces further allow visitors to explore Sharjah’s destinations, experiences and events.
Rather than simply displaying photographs and information, the pavilion seeks to create a sense of actually moving through the destination.
From cultural and heritage attractions to nature, leisure and contemporary developments, visitors are invited to discover the different dimensions of Sharjah through technology-led storytelling.
Sharjah’s Tourism Story Gets a Digital Makeover
Speaking at the unveiling, Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, described the authority’s ATM participation as part of a wider strategy to strengthen Sharjah’s competitiveness and international tourism presence.
The new pavilion, he noted, represents a shift towards a more interactive and innovative model of destination presentation, while partnerships with industry stakeholders are intended to further enrich the visitor journey.
The focus extends beyond tourism alone. Sharjah is positioning its destination proposition around the intersection of culture, heritage, nature, investment and leisure, creating a more comprehensive picture of the emirate for different visitor segments and international markets.
An Ecosystem Behind the Destination
The pavilion brings together a number of Sharjah-based organisations, reflecting the collaborative nature of the emirate’s tourism ecosystem.
Representatives from Sharjah Airport Authority, Sharjah Museums Authority, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), Sharjah Classic Cars Club and Arada, alongside SCTDA, presented developments and initiatives across their respective sectors.
Together, these organisations represent different aspects of Sharjah’s visitor economy — from museums and heritage to aviation, hospitality, investment, leisure and urban development.
The result is a tourism proposition that extends beyond a single attraction or travel experience.
Content as Part of the Visitor Journey
Another element highlighted during the pavilion launch is SCTDA’s partnership with Kalimat Group, with the collaboration placing high-quality content at the centre of destination storytelling.
The idea reflects a wider evolution in tourism marketing: travellers increasingly want to understand a destination before they experience it.
By combining editorial storytelling with immersive technology, Sharjah is creating multiple ways for potential visitors to discover the emirate — visually, digitally and through narrative.
Mobility Takes Centre Stage at ATM 2026
Elsewhere at Arabian Travel Market, mobility companies are also strengthening partnerships designed around the changing expectations of international travellers.
Europcar Dubai and Northern Emirates, part of Eurogulf Mobility Group, and VIP Rent a Car have signed a Memorandum of Understanding at ATM 2026, building on a relationship that began in 2023.
The partnership brings together Europcar’s international mobility expertise and Eurogulf Mobility Group’s UAE operations with VIP Rent a Car’s experience in premium and luxury mobility.
The collaboration focuses on service quality, operational reliability, convenience and a more seamless customer experience.
For premium travellers in particular, mobility is increasingly becoming an extension of the overall travel experience — where convenience, responsiveness and personalisation matter as much as the vehicle itself.
The New Language of Travel
What Sharjah is presenting at ATM 2026 reflects a broader transformation taking place across the tourism industry.
Destination marketing is no longer limited to brochures, billboards and conventional showcases. Technology, storytelling and experience are becoming central to how cities and regions introduce themselves to the world.
Sharjah’s new pavilion places that philosophy directly at the heart of its ATM presence — creating a digital gateway into the emirate’s cultural, natural and contemporary landscape.
And perhaps that is the most interesting shift of all: the destination is no longer simply being shown. It is being experienced.
The Mauve Take
Sharjah’s latest ATM presentation demonstrates how destination marketing is evolving from information to immersion.
By bringing together digital innovation, cultural storytelling and a broad network of tourism stakeholders, the emirate is presenting itself not as a single attraction, but as a destination with multiple layers to discover.
At a travel marketplace increasingly shaped by experience-led tourism, how a destination tells its story can be just as important as the story itself.
