A sophisticated Indian craft whisky bringing together aged Indian Single Malts and Scotch Whisky, finished in PX Sherry Casks
New Delhi, 27th October 2026 – Globus Spirits Ltd. today announced the launch of DWAAR Indian Craft Whisky – SIPAHI, the first expression under its DWAAR Indian Craft Whisky portfolio. A masterful blend of aged Indian Single Malts and Scotch Whisky, SIPAHI is finished in Pedro Ximénez (PX) Sherry Casks sourced exclusively from the Sherry Triangle in Andalusia, southwestern Spain, bringing together Indian craft and an internationally recognised cask-finishing tradition.
Rooted in the idea of the grand Indian doorway — or DWAAR — where imposing gateways have historically stood as sentinels of exclusivity, guardians of those within and keepers of the threshold, the portfolio draws on a distinctive symbol of Indian heritage. SIPAHI takes a creative cue from the majestic forts of India and their formidable gateways, translating that sense of strength, stature and refined character into a contemporary craft whisky.
Crafted using the finest Indian Six Row barley from Rajasthan, SIPAHI brings together aged Indian Single Malts and Scotch Whisky before being finished in PX Sherry Casks sourced exclusively from the Sherry Triangle in the Andalusia region of southwestern Spain. The finishing lends depth and rounded richness to the blend while retaining a distinctly Indian craft identity. The whisky is Chill Filtered.
On the nose, SIPAHI is elegant and layered, with polished oak, delicate florals, soft dried fruit, vanilla and subtle spice. The palate is silky and rounded, revealing refined woody notes, gentle toffee sweetness, dried fruit and warm spice, with a delicate smoky undertone. The finish is long and sophisticated, with lingering oak, soft toffee, gentle spice and restrained smoky warmth.
DWAAR Indian Craft Whisky – SIPAHI will be introduced through a phased launch, initially across Rajasthan, Haryana, Goa, Punjab, Chandigarh and Delhi. The indicative consumer price is expected to range from INR 1,400 to INR 2,400, depending on applicable State Excise Duties and Taxes. Availability and pricing may therefore vary by market.
India’s whisky landscape is undergoing a significant transformation. While the overall Indian whisky market is projected to grow at around 7% CAGR over the coming years, the premium spirits segment is expanding considerably faster, reflecting a sustained shift towards higher-quality and more sophisticated drinking experiences.
The evolution is particularly visible in Indian-made premium whisky. Made-in-India single malt volumes reached an estimated 5 lakh cases in 2025, registering approximately 22% growth.
The launch further strengthens Globus Spirits’ growing Luxury portfolio, which the company has identified as a key growth engine within its consumer business. The portfolio already includes DŌAAB Indian Craft Whisky and TERAI, reflecting its strategy of creating contemporary Indian spirits built around provenance, innovation, craftsmanship and distinctive brand worlds.
With the launch of DWAAR Indian Craft Whisky, Globus Spirits Ltd. extends this philosophy into the world of Premium Blended Malt Whisky, exploring how carefully selected Indian and Scotch malts can be brought together and elevated through an exceptional PX Sherry Cask finish.
Mr. Shekhar Swarup, Joint Managing Director, Globus Spirits Ltd., said, “With DWAAR Indian Craft Whisky, we are creating a portfolio that draws inspiration from a distinctly Indian symbol—the doorway—while expressing it through a contemporary craft whisky lens. SIPAHI reflects our approach to premiumisation through the considered coming together of aged Indian Single Malts and Scotch Whisky, elevated by a finish in authentic PX Sherry Casks. It is an expression shaped by Indian craftsmanship, international cask influence and a belief that heritage can be interpreted with a modern point of view.”
Mr. P.S. Gill, CEO, Consumer Division, Globus Spirits Ltd., added, “SIPAHI marks the first expression under the DWAAR portfolio and sets the tone for a craft whisky proposition rooted in provenance and character. From Indian Six Row barley from Rajasthan to PX Sherry Casks from Spain , every element has been selected to create a whisky that is bold and sophisticated, yet balanced and contemporary. Our phased launch across key premium markets reflects our intent to build DWAAR with care and consistency.”
