Akhil Nair is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BigTrunk Communications, a full-
service integrated digital agency he launched in 2013 alongside co-founder Bharat
Subramaniam. At BigTrunk, Akhil drives business growth and creative solutions, working at
the intersection of strategy, data, and storytelling to build high-impact digital campaigns.
An MBA postgraduate, Akhil Nair began his career in the insurance sector, gaining valuable
experience in product innovation, business development, and leadership. Over nearly a
decade of professional experience prior to founding BigTrunk, he was credited with
launching multiple products, building distribution channels, and leading cross-functional
growth initiatives.
His entrepreneurial leap came at a transformative moment for India’s advertising industry,
as smartphones and digital platforms disrupted traditional media models. Spotting the gap,
Akhil co-created BigTrunk to deliver agile, data-driven marketing solutions that help brands
scale with measurable ROI.
Milestones: Under his leadership, BigTrunk has grown into a ₹100+ crore company with
200+ professionals, five offices, and an international footprint across India, UAE, and the
USA.
Vision: Akhil’s focus is on developing AI-led optimisation tools, social-first digital assets,
and international expansion. His long-term ambition is to get BigTrunk to a formidable
digital player in the Indian landscape.
