The new 42,000 sq. ft. restaurant and bar introduces a fire-lit setting and a culture built around community, connection and the rituals of gathering

Bengaluru, 26th October 2026, India: In a city where evenings can often become a sequence of bookings, bills and cab rides, Koko Samba has been built around a simpler idea: what if going out felt like entering somewhere you belonged? Located on Brookefield Main Road, Bengaluru, Koko Samba is a new 42,000 sq. ft. restaurant and bar built not as a theme, but as a place with its own people, language, rituals and way of doing an evening.

At Koko Samba, guests are not meant to visit a tribe from the outside. They become part of it. The experience begins with the feeling of stepping through a door into another world, where the lights drop, a fire is lit, drinks are poured and food finds its way to the middle of the table. With space for 750 covers, the destination is designed for everything from large gatherings and lively evenings to slower moments shaped by conversation, food and music. Some evenings are filled with drums, dance and performance, while others are quieter, allowing the warmth of the fire and the details of the space to take over.

The name Koko Samba brings together two ideas: Koko, referring to cacao earth, and Samba, a dance that travels across oceans. Together, they represent ground and rhythm, where you stand and how you move. It is also the name given to the people who belong to this world. Rather than borrowing a culture or aesthetic and turning it into décor, Koko Samba has developed its own vocabulary, characters and rituals, creating a space that feels like it has existed on its own terms.

Food and drinks form an important part of this world. They are not simply elements of a menu, but part of the rhythm of the place, bringing people together around the table and giving the evening its own sense of occasion. The food follows the same communal instinct, with plates designed to be shared and enjoyed at the centre of the table rather than experienced in isolation.

Koko Samba deliberately sits somewhere between a loud brewery and a quiet cocktail bar. It is warm, fire-lit and alive, but still designed to leave room for conversation. The experience shifts with the evening, moving from music and performance to slower moments of eating, drinking and discovery. Returning guests become familiar faces, gradually forming a community not only with the people behind the venue, but with one another.

The setting is imagined as a settlement rather than a set. The architecture and interiors, designed by AR Abhigyan Neogi, draw from tribal environments, tropical landscapes and indigenous craftsmanship, interpreted through a contemporary hospitality lens. Across the space, stone formations, bamboo, cane, thatch, natural wood, woven textures and tribal-inspired markings come together to create an environment that feels organic rather than constructed.

The architecture brings the elements of water, fire, air and earth into the experience. Large sculptural rock formations become focal points, while a dramatic water body and water-wheel feature bring movement into the space. Extensive tropical planting, organic bamboo structures, thatched forms and custom woven and cane lighting further reinforce the connection with nature. The tribal influence is built into the architecture itself through walls, screens, columns, ceilings and furniture, rather than being treated as a layer of decoration.

The idea was to imagine Koko Samba as a place inhabited by people who had lived there for generations, prospered and gradually made the space their own. This meant moving away from the raw or primitive interpretation often associated with tribal-inspired spaces, and instead creating something finished, abundant and richly adorned. Statues, wall art and select furniture pieces sourced through travels across different parts of the world add to this sense of a place that has its own history, with details that reveal themselves over repeated visits.

“Koko Samba was never meant to be a place you simply come to. We wanted to create a place that people feel they belong to. The fire, the food, the drinks, the music and every detail of the space are there to bring people together and make them feel like they are part of something. You may walk in as a guest, but the idea is that you leave as one of us,” says Praneeth Duttuluri, Co Founder at Koko Samba.

“Koko Samba is built around the idea of creating more than just a restaurant and bar. We wanted to create a space with its own identity, where food, drinks, music and design come together to create an experience that feels natural, welcoming and memorable. At its heart, Koko Samba is about bringing people together and creating a place they want to return to,” says Mani Sankar Duttuluri, Co Founder at Koko Samba.

The location on Brookefield Main Road is central to this idea. Situated within Bengaluru’s largest office district and surrounded by established residential neighbourhoods, the area brings together people who work, live and spend much of their time around the IT corridor. Just a short walk from Kundalahalli Metro, Koko Samba offers a destination for the neighbourhood that is designed to feel removed from the pace of the city without being disconnected from it.

At its heart, Koko Samba is about bringing back some of the rituals that modern city life has made harder to find: sitting around a fire, sharing a pour, eating from the middle of the table, listening to music together and staying a little longer than planned. It creates a world with its own rhythm, where food, drinks, design, music and people are not separate parts of the experience, but expressions of the same idea.
