Inside Nykaa Luxe’s 5,500 sq. ft. Ambience Mall destination, where luxury beauty is becoming less about browsing and more about discovery
Luxury beauty retail is having a moment in India, but the most interesting change isn’t simply the growing number of premium brands available to consumers. It is the way people are being invited to experience them.
The latest example comes from Nykaa, which has unveiled its largest store in India, a 5,500 sq. ft. Nykaa Luxe destination at Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. Designed as an immersive “beauty playground”, the store brings luxury and prestige beauty together with consultations, experimentation and personalised services.
And in a market where beauty discovery increasingly begins online, the physical store is being asked to do something different: give consumers a reason to step inside.
The New Luxury Beauty Playground
The scale of the new Nykaa Luxe store is significant, but its proposition goes beyond square footage.
At the centre are more than 10 dedicated shop-in-shops from brands including Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Charlotte Tilbury, M.A.C, Laneige, Kiehl’s, Estée Lauder, Clinique, Kay Beauty, Nykaa Cosmetics and Lancôme.
Rather than making every brand feel identical within one large retail environment, the shop-in-shop format allows each name to create its own visual and experiential identity while remaining part of the larger Nykaa Luxe universe.
The result is less traditional beauty counter and more curated beauty destination.
Beauty Retail, But Make It Experiential
The store’s most telling feature may be its emphasis on expertise.
The Beauty Studio offers makeovers and skin consultations with beauty advisors, while Consultation Hubs are designed around guided discovery and hands-on experimentation. There is also a dedicated Fragrance Finder, helping shoppers navigate an increasingly crowded fragrance landscape.
Personalised gifting and engraving services add another layer, turning a beauty purchase into something that can be made more individual.
This is part of a broader shift in premium retail: when consumers can compare products, watch tutorials and read reviews from their phones, physical stores need to offer something the screen cannot.
For Nykaa, that something is increasingly touch, trial, expertise and personalisation.
A Beauty Wardrobe That Goes Beyond Makeup
The assortment itself reflects how expansive India’s beauty consumer has become.
The makeup edit includes names such as Rare Beauty, Huda Beauty, Kylie Cosmetics, Benefit Cosmetics, NARS, Urban Decay, Milk Makeup and Too Faced.
Skincare stretches across Korean and Japanese beauty, derma-led products and global skincare houses. Laneige, SK-II, Sulwhasoo, Anua, Beauty of Joseon, La Roche-Posay, CeraVe, Eucerin, Shiseido and The Ordinary are among the names represented.
Haircare brings together Kérastase, Redken, Olaplex, Dyson, OUAI and Aveda, while the fragrance edit includes Tom Ford, Jo Malone London, Carolina Herrera, Bvlgari, Prada, Versace, Armani and Maison Margiela.
It is essentially a beauty wardrobe under one roof — spanning the everyday, the aspirational and the experimental.
Why Delhi, Why Now?
The opening also sits within Nykaa’s wider push into luxury beauty retail in Delhi-NCR.
Earlier this year, the company opened Charlotte Tilbury’s first flagship Beauty Wonderland in India at Nexus Select Citywalk, followed by another Charlotte Tilbury boutique at Mall of India, Noida.
Together with the new Nykaa Luxe destination, these stores signal a deliberate investment in the region’s premium beauty market.
Anchit Nayar, Executive Director and CEO, Nykaa Beauty, said:
“The opportunity in premium beauty is not simply about offering more products; it is about creating a more sophisticated beauty ecosystem around the consumer.”
He added:
“As discovery becomes increasingly digital, physical retail has an opportunity to become more experiential, more expert-led and more personal.”
That idea sits at the heart of the new store.
The Bigger Beauty Retail Shift
India’s beauty and personal care market is entering a period of rapid expansion. According to figures cited by Nykaa from Redseer, the market was valued at approximately US$23 billion in FY25 and could reach US$40 billion by 2030.
But market growth alone does not explain the evolution of beauty retail.
Consumers are becoming more knowledgeable about ingredients, formulations, global trends, fragrance profiles and application techniques. They are also moving fluidly between mass, premium and prestige categories.
The challenge for luxury beauty retailers is therefore no longer just to stock the right brands. It is to help consumers navigate them.
Nykaa’s new store is built around precisely that proposition.
The Store as the New Beauty Discovery Engine
There was a time when luxury beauty shopping was largely about the counter: a product, a beauty advisor and a transaction.
The new model is more fluid.
You can walk in looking for a lipstick and end up exploring a fragrance. You can arrive knowing exactly what you want and still experiment with something completely new. You can seek a skincare consultation, test a product, personalise a gift or simply discover a brand you have only encountered online.
That makes the physical store less of a finishing point in the purchase journey and more of a discovery engine.
And with its largest Nykaa Luxe store, the company appears to be betting that Indian beauty consumers aren’t looking for fewer choices.
They are looking for better ways to experience them.
