Growing Up Is Messy. Prime Video Is Making a Film About It.
First loves. Best friends. Bad decisions. Big dreams. And the slightly terrifying realisation that nobody actually has life figured out.
Prime Video is bringing all of it to the screen with Don’t Be Shy, an upcoming young-adult romantic comedy that will premiere globally on September 25, 2026.
Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, the film is produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under their banner Eternal Sunshine Productions, with Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani serving as co-producers.
And while the film has some familiar names behind the camera, its story is being carried by four fresh faces.
⸻
Meet the New Faces of Don’t Be Shy
The film introduces Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora and Piyush Khati in the lead roles.
Together, they inhabit a world of friendship, young love, heartbreak, ambition and the complicated business of becoming an adult.
The supporting cast brings in more familiar faces, with Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik appearing in pivotal roles.
The combination gives the film a deliberately youthful energy while surrounding its new leads with experienced performers.

A Coming-of-Age Story Without the Perfect Answers
At its heart, Don’t Be Shy is about figuring things out.
Not necessarily successfully.
The film explores the friendships that shape young adulthood, the first relationships that feel like everything, the heartbreaks that linger and the dreams that force young people to reconsider who they want to become.
Rather than presenting growing up as a neat transition from confusion to certainty, the film embraces the messier reality of it.
Because adulthood rarely arrives with instructions.

Alia and Shaheen Bhatt Bring Eternal Sunshine Productions Into the Spotlight
For Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt, Don’t Be Shy is another project emerging from Eternal Sunshine Productions, the production banner they co-founded.
In a joint statement, the sisters described the film as particularly close to them, highlighting its exploration of youth, friendship, first love, heartbreak and the gradual process of discovering one’s identity.
The film also represents a notable creative bet on a new generation of performers.
Its four leads—Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora and Piyush Khati—are being introduced to audiences at a global scale through Prime Video.
⸻
Prime Video Takes the Story Worldwide
The film will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on September 25, 2026.
It will be available in Hindi with English subtitles across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
For Prime Video, the film adds another young-adult story to its expanding Indian Originals slate while giving a new generation of actors a worldwide streaming platform.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals, Prime Video (SVOD) and Amazon MGM Studios India, described the project as a heartfelt celebration of friendship, love and the complicated journey of growing up.

The Mauve Take
There is something inherently cinematic about the period of life when everything feels like the beginning.
Your first great friendship.
Your first terrible heartbreak.
Your first serious dream.
Your first realisation that perhaps your parents, friends—or even you—don’t have all the answers.
Don’t Be Shy appears to be leaning into precisely that beautifully chaotic territory.
With four new faces, a young-adult romantic comedy format and Alia and Shaheen Bhatt behind the production, the film arrives with a distinctly youthful proposition.
And on September 25, audiences will finally meet Shy—and enter her wonderfully complicated world.
