What happens when a room full of female founders swaps boardrooms for Garba beats? An evening of movement, music, festive fashion and community at Shakti Yoga & Dance Studio.
There are some evenings when you don’t really need an agenda.
You just need good music, comfortable company and a reason to get on the dance floor.
That was exactly the energy at the recent Garba Workshop hosted by Shakti Yoga & Dance Studio in collaboration with The Female Founders Club (TFF), where the usual conversations around businesses, ideas and work gave way to festive outfits, dance moves and plenty of laughter.
Held on 26 September, the workshop brought TFF Queens together for an energetic evening designed around one simple idea: come together, move, celebrate and have fun.
And Shakti proved to be the perfect setting for it.
What happens when founders step away from work mode?
For a community of women who spend much of their time building businesses, managing teams and making things happen, an evening dedicated entirely to dancing offered a different kind of connection.
At Shakti Yoga & Dance Studio, the atmosphere quickly shifted from everyday routines to festive celebration.
The Garba workshop brought everyone onto the floor, with participants learning the steps, following the rhythm and gradually letting go of any hesitation.
Some came ready to dance.
Some came ready to learn.
And, naturally, some came ready to make sure their Garba outfit had its own moment.
The result was an evening that felt less like a formal community event and more like a group of friends getting together for the festive season.
Shakti brought the movement, TFF brought the Queens
The collaboration between Shakti Yoga & Dance Studio and The Female Founders Club brought together two elements that complemented each other naturally: movement and community.
Shakti’s focus on dance and wellness created a space where participants could simply be present and enjoy movement, while TFF’s community brought its characteristic sense of connection and camaraderie.
It was a reminder that wellness doesn’t always have to look like a quiet yoga session or a structured workout.
Sometimes, wellness can look like dancing with your friends for two hours.
Sometimes, it can be laughing when you miss a step.
And sometimes, it can simply be giving yourself permission to have fun.
And then came the fashion
Because what is Garba without the outfits?
The festive dress code brought its own energy to the evening, with TFF Queens turning up in colourful traditional and festive looks.
The evening’s Best Dress recognition went to Saloni Baid and Tanshi Jain, who stood out for their festive style.
And because the focus wasn’t only on looking the part, there was another title up for grabs.
Best Garba
Ashmita Kasliwal took home the recognition for Best Garba, bringing the energy and enthusiasm that made the dance floor come alive.
The fun recognitions added a playful competitive element to the evening without taking away from what the event was really about — enjoying the celebration together.
More than a workshop
What stood out about the evening wasn’t simply the number of Garba steps learnt.
It was the change in energy.
The women who usually meet to discuss businesses, collaborations, ideas and opportunities were now dancing together, cheering each other on and celebrating the festive season.
And perhaps that is exactly why experiences like these matter within a founders’ community.
Professional relationships are important.
But communities become stronger when people also have opportunities to connect outside their professional identities.
A different kind of founder evening
The Female Founders Club has always been about creating spaces for women to connect, and the Garba evening offered a more relaxed expression of that idea.
There were no presentations to sit through.
No pitches.
No business agendas.
Just music, movement, festive dressing and a room full of women enjoying themselves.
With Shakti Yoga & Dance Studio providing the space and the dance experience, the evening became a celebration of both festive culture and the importance of making time for movement and joy.
Because perhaps being a founder isn’t always about doing more.
Sometimes, it is about knowing when to step away from the laptop, put on your Garba shoes and dance.
And on this particular evening, the TFF Queens did exactly that. 💃✨
