In a wedding landscape increasingly driven by spectacle, Shutterbug Film Company is building a distinct identity through emotionally honest storytelling — a vision beautifully reflected in Mara and Rohan’s intimate Italian-Bengali wedding celebration in Dubai. Captured through the brand’s deeply human lens, the three-day celebration focused on preserving authentic moments, cultural nuances, and the warmth of family over staged grandeur.
After celebrating their Italian wedding in Rome, Mara and Rohan brought the richness of Bengali traditions to Dubai for a thoughtfully curated destination wedding planned by Ikigaii Wedding Planners. Rather than creating a larger-than-life production, the couple chose to centre the celebrations around intimacy, heritage, and emotional connection.
The festivities began with traditional Bengali ceremonies hosted inside the family home, where rituals unfolded organically among close family and friends. From the sound of the shankh during the Gayu Holud ceremony to Mara’s instinctive shyness during the Shubho Drishti, every moment reflected the emotional depth and cultural significance of the occasion.
Food became another meaningful part of the experience. To recreate the familiarity of Kolkata in Dubai, the family sourced authentic kosha mangsho from a local home kitchen, bringing a sense of nostalgia and comfort into the celebrations. Hand-painted Mehendi favors, created together by Mara and Rohan’s mother, further reflected the personal and familial spirit of the wedding.
The main ceremony, hosted at the Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club, carried forward the same sense of warmth and sincerity. Even within a destination setting, the focus remained firmly on emotional exchanges, cultural rituals, and meaningful interactions rather than excessive spectacle.
