Entrepreneur, explorer, and content creator Gauravv Saxena recently visited the city of love, Agra, along with his good friend. And he can’t stop praising the Taj Mahal, which is also known as the Monument of Love.
He says, “Visiting the Taj Mahal is always breathtaking. But this time, it took on a completely new dimension. I was traveling with my friend Armands, who flew in all the way from Latvia specially to see it. Watching his reaction as we walked through the gates was incredible. As a digital creator, I found myself not only capturing the sheer scale and magnificent architecture, but at the same time, I was also happy for my friend, who was experiencing this Indian marvel for the very first time.”
He also adds, “What made this trip truly special was the beautiful contrast of our journeys. I grew up nearby in Aligarh, so returning to the Taj was like a homecoming for me after living and working in East Africa for nearly a decade. But experiencing that personal nostalgia alongside my friend Armands, who was making a special trip from the Baltics just for this, was indeed magical. It made me appreciate the wonder of my own ‘motherland’ through a truly global lens. Growing up in Aligarh meant the Taj Mahal was practically next door, so I’ve been fortunate to visit it before. However, for Armands, it was the realization of a major travel goal. Coming back to it now in my mid-forties, after having traveled to over 50 countries myself, and sharing it with a friend who was taking it all in for the first time, gave me great satisfaction.”
Gauravv also shares how important it is to visit your own national heritage. He says, “It is absolutely vital. Having had the privilege of exploring historic sites across Europe and Africa, I can confidently say our Indian heritage sites stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s greatest marvels. Taking an international guest to the Taj Mahal strengthened my belief that these sites aren’t just local monuments; they are global treasures. Visiting them isn’t just about admiring architecture—it gives us an identity and pride that we can confidently share with the rest of the world.”
